Myocardial Infarction – Anyone who is not all that familiar with medical jargon might question, “What in the heck do these two words mean?” Please do not be intimidated. A myocardial infarction is nothing more than a heart attack. By writing that, I do not mean it is not a serious or complex issue. After all, their hearts must beat for people to live and the inner intricacies of hearts are complex issues in and of themselves.

I must explain the meaning of the blog title. When an MI occurs, it happens instantly and if people know they are experiencing a heart attack, it seems as if it is happening at that specific moment in time (NOW). Many people survive heart attacks and go on to live healthy lives. “FATAL” ends the blog title because heart attacks kill many people each year (see below).
The purpose of this blog is to define a myocardial infarction. I do that above.
I mention how quickly they come upon their victims and how quickly many leave them.
I give a few statistics on them. “Every 43 seconds in the U.S. someone has a myocardial infarction. Each year about 235,000 people have heart attacks. Approximately 610,000 of these people die as results of these.” www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/facts.htm.
I list potential causes of myocardial infarctions as well as warning signs. I list things people can do to prevent these frequently fatal occurrences from happening. In other words, I give a few prevention techniques. Several of my blogs are interrelated. For example, people need to get out, get off the couch (see Laziness: Bye, Bye, Couch!!!) exercise, and enjoy life (see “Life’s Too Short!!!”) to have good heart health.
People also need to pay attention to their cholesterol levels and not let them get too high (see “CHOLESTEROL: WATCH ITS LEVELS”).
Myocardial Infarctions might creep up on people. Or, they could be the results of fatigue. They can happen literally in a heartbeat. People might not even know what happened to them when one occurs.
